KEEPING CITIZENS INFORMED IN TIMES OF CRISIS
Developed by the City of Vilnius, KOVAS addresses the need for reliable and timely information during emergencies. Before its introduction, residents had no single source for updates on safety risks and civil protection measures. The platform delivers location-based alerts directly to smartphones, notifying users about fires, extreme weather, traffic disruptions, and other emergencies. It also provides information on environmental conditions and public safety measures, helping citizens respond quickly and confidently when risks arise.
COMBINING ALERTS WITH PREPAREDNESS TOOLS
KOVAS brings together emergency notifications, environmental monitoring, and civil protection information within one user-friendly application. Residents can access data on air quality, pollen levels, and radiation, as well as maps showing shelters, evacuation points, and collective protection sites. Key information can be downloaded and used offline, ensuring access even during network disruptions. By combining immediate alerts with practical preparedness tools, the platform strengthens cooperation between public authorities and citizens.
BUILDING RESILIENCE THROUGH TRUSTED INFORMATION
Since its launch, KOVAS has been downloaded by more than 25,000 users and has already proven effective during real emergencies. The platform reduces misinformation and enables faster and safer decision-making by providing clear and reliable information. Through direct communication and greater awareness of risks and safety infrastructure, KOVAS strengthens trust between residents and public authorities. As security challenges evolve, the platform offers a scalable model for improving urban resilience and public preparedness.
