Mental Guard helps Ukrainian school communities detect emotional distress early and provides timely support to strengthen the mental resilience of children, families, and educators.
SUPPORTING WELLBEING ACROSS SCHOOL COMMUNITIES
Mental Guard was developed to address the growing need for accessible and effective mental health support in schools. In Ukraine, the challenges created by war, displacement, and uncertainty have made early intervention more important than ever. The initiative combines well-being screening, mobile crisis psychologist teams, digital tools, and professional training into one coordinated system. By supporting students, teachers, parents, and administrators, the project helps schools move from responding to crises to building everyday resilience.
CONNECTING TECHNOLOGY WITH HUMAN SUPPORT
Mental Guard brings together schools, psychologists, and public authorities through an integrated ecosystem designed for prevention and rapid response. Digital screening tools and analytics help identify patterns of risk, while training programmes strengthen the capacity of teachers and school psychologists. AI-supported tools assist with navigation and awareness, but professional judgement remains at the centre of care. With participation based on consent and anonymised data, the initiative combines innovation with a responsible and human-centred approach to mental health.
BUILDING A STRONGER EDUCATION SYSTEM
The project reaches more than 900,000 people within Kyiv’s education ecosystem, including 300,000 students, 30,000 educators, and 600,000 parents, and is implemented across 420 schools. Nearly 3,000 individuals have already received psychological support. By enabling earlier intervention and better coordination, Mental Guard helps schools allocate resources more effectively and strengthens the resilience of entire communities. As the model expands, it offers a sustainable approach to integrating mental health support into everyday educational life.
